Course Details
This course aims to explore the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in modern law enforcement practices. Students will learn about different aspects of AI and how it functions in today's society, then examine how AI technologies are deployed for crime prevention, investigation predictive policing, surveillance, and forensic analysis. The goal is to prepare learners to understand both the opportunities and challenges of integrating AI into policing, considering operational effectiveness, ethical dilemmas, policy implications, and public trust. TOPICS COVERED: AI used in open-source investigations, deepfakes being used in criminal behavior, legal standards and due process, public trust and engagement, future trends and challenges with AI, drone utilization of AI technologies, technology terms/acronyms and how it's developed and works, fundamental concepts of AI and its application in law enforcement and ethical, legal, and societal implications of AI deployment in policing.
