Course Details
Designed as a multi-media presentation to prepare students to be the affiant, case-agent, or supervisor on a federal or state wiretap, this course uses examples from film and television, as well as real life case studies, to aid in the understanding of the concepts being taught. An introduction to the tools available to and methods employed by investigators wishing to use wiretaps and other forms of electronic surveillance, with an emphasis on narcotics, organized crime, and racketeering enterprises, the course provides students with an overview of how to approach long term wiretap cases, what crimes can serve as the basis for a wiretap application, sources of manpower and funding, and how to maximize the effectiveness of your wire.
