WB HIDTA & MD-FIT have coordinated with Block, Inc to provide law enforcement with a 2 hour block of training from Block, Inc. This training will provide law enforcement with an overview of their products and services, compliance program, Special Investigations team, legal order processing, and a discussion of how Block, Inc. partners with law enforcement for case work. The training begins with an overview of Block Inc. as a whole, focusing on our products and services—including Square and Cash App. There is an emphasis on Cash App due to its frequent relevance in law enforcement investigations. We then provide a high-level walkthrough of our Compliance program, covering our detection systems, internal safeguards, and approach to investigating financial crimes. Next, we delve into the work of the Special Investigations team, highlighting how we collaborate with law enforcement and the various ways we can support casework. This section includes real-world examples of past cases we've worked on in coordination with public sector partners. Finally, we cover the Law Enforcement Response Team (LERT), explaining the process for submitting legal requests to Block Inc., along with best practices and tips to help ensure a smooth and effective response.
