Description
Police and Dog Encounters This course will address officer/animal encounters and how agencies can be prepared to avoid unnecessarily shooting a family pet. We will discuss situations where officials are likely to encounter canines in the field and review real life scenarios and their outcomes. This class will cover basic canine behavior/body language, handling and restraint techniques to provide attendees with a general understanding that can be applied in the field. We will review the Maryland and Virginia Animal Statutes relating to dangerous and vicious dogs to ensure investigators understand how to interpret these laws.
