21st Century Interdiction
February 17th - 19th 8:00 am
Duration: 24 hours
Location: Texas Anti-Gang Center at San Antonio, Texas
Course Details
Drug/illicit currency trafficking organizations and individuals utilize various commercial entities to facilitate the transportation and distribution of illegal drugs and drug currency. Traffickers/smugglers use these commercial entities under the guise of legitimate commerce to avoid law enforcement detection. They include commercial airlines, parcel services/mail receiving agencies, trucking companies, hotels/motels, and trains/buses. Traffickers using these modes of transport to smuggle drugs and currency exhibit a cluster of characteristics specific to each, which are readily detectable to trained law enforcement. Instructors from across the country are converging for this training to share their experience, lessons learned, and techniques.
Attendees will be able to identify criminal drug and currency smuggling characteristics for each mode of transportation, identify criminal conduct, seize drugs/currency, conduct interdiction encounters where applicable, conduct controlled deliveries where appropriate, and disrupt/dismantle drug trafficking organizations. Topics include consensual interview, bus, train, small & large airport, forfeiture, parcel, and freight
