NHAC’s Renee Alvarez Provides ‘Just-in-Time’ Instruction for Central Valley HIDTA

It isn’t always feasible for people to travel for training, so occasionally, on an as-needed basis, the NHAC will send someone to provide onsite ‘just-in-time’ instruction. Last month, the NHAC sent   accountant Renee Alvarez to Central Valley HIDTA to provide coaching to the financial team. Renee’s background as a financial auditor for  ONDCP (2006-2008) has given her a unique perspective and a wealth of knowledge to draw upon in her accounting job and for teaching, as well. Renee’s focus for the CV HIDTA included Program Policy, disbursement, reprogramming and other specifically requested topics. Renee

In a follow-up letter to NHAC Director Bill Martin Central Valley HIDTA Director William Ruzzamenti spoke very highly of the experience: “Thank you very much for sending Renee out to provide FMS training to the commanders and sub fiduciaries in the CV HIDTA. The training was well received and the questions and interaction with the attendees was excellent. All the feedback has been very positive. The time she spent with our financial team was very productive. Renee has that ‘can do’ attitude that no one can teach. It reflects well on you and the NHAC. We are in your debt. Thanks again and let Renee know we are grateful for her efforts.”

Budget Coordinator Kristin Martin described Renee’s  help:  “It was really great that she could come to California and spend time in our office and interact with our commanders and sub fiduciaries.  She was able to answer questions and reinforce what we are trying to accomplish.”
