FDLE Incorporates NHAC CD into Basic Curriculum

We would like to congratulate the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) for their new Analyst Academy in Tallahassee, Florida, which opened its doors June 2, 2003.

Part of the training curriculum includes the computer based training, “So What’s Next? Analysis and Critical Thinking”, developed by the National HIDTA Assistance Center (NHAC). Ms. Lois Higgins, Training Coordinator for the Academy, reviewed the CD several months ago and decided to include it in the basic FDLE curriculum. The FDLE Academy class is open to students from across the State of Florida from state and local agencies. Students convene at the Academy and using a laptop computer and headphones, each student navigates through the program solving problems, answering questions and playing games, spending approximately four hours. The final exam exercises are submitted to the NHAC for review and scoring, and in return each student is issued a certificate of achievement.

The NHAC Multimedia and Training Units collaborated on the content and programming of the CD. Approximately 1,500 students have enrolled in this distance learning component of the NHAC which consists of an additional CD related to introductory analytical techniques.

For more information or to enroll in these distance learning programs, submit an enrollment form to the NHAC via fax to 305-715-7615 or call Gladys Sosa at 305-715-7600 ext 7757.
